The Emergency Safeguarding of the Syrian Cultural Heritage project seeks to address the ongoing loss of cultural heritage in Syria and lay the foundation for post-conflict recovery efforts. Since the outbreak of conflict in March 2011, Syria has experienced significant damage to its cultural heritage. The project's primary objective is to contribute to the restoration of social cohesion, stability, and sustainable development in the country.
A comprehensive communications and visibility strategy manual has been developed for this project in line with EU guidelines. This document includes various communication tools, such as media outreach, special events, and both online and offline dissemination. UNESCO’s in-house communications officer is responsible for implementing the strategy, with ongoing monitoring and consultancy support provided on a regular basis.
Additionally, marketing materials, including folders and tote bags, have been designed for heritage experts, trainees, and all stakeholders involved in the project. An infographic pamphlet, available in English, French, and Arabic, has also been created to highlight the project's outputs and showcase UNESCO’s work in the field.
