UNESCO’s Emergency Safeguarding of the Syrian Cultural Heritage

The Emergency Safeguarding of the Syrian Cultural Heritage project aims to mitigate the on-going loss of cultural heritage in Syria and pave the way for post-conflict priority actions following the considerable damage to, and loss of, cultural heritage since March 2011, with the overall objective of contributing to restore social cohesion, stability and sustainable development in Syria.

We have developed an extensive communications and visibility strategy manual for this project as per the EU guidelines. This document comprises a multitude of communication tools, including, but not limited to, media outreach, special events and online and offline dissemination. The visibility and communications strategy is implemented by UNESCO’s in-house communications officer and we monitor implementation and work in progress on a consultancy basis regularly.

Furthermore, we have designed and developed marketing give-aways such as a folder and tote bag for heritage experts, trainees and all stakeholders involved. In addition, we have designed an infographic pamphlet in English, French and Arabic to highlight the outputs of the project and UNESCO’s work in progress in the field.
